Yakuza: Like a Dragon confirms the return of several classic characters

The SEGA video game will continue the saga with a new protagonist but the same universe, and that will lead to a multitude of winks, references and appearances.

This article contains sensitive content to be considered a spoiler of the Yakuza saga.

SEGA has advanced new details about Yakuza: Like a Dragon, which confirms the return of some of the most illustrious characters in the series. The new advance in the form of a video just a few days ago presented the appearance of characters like Kazuma Kiryu, the main protagonist of the saga so far; but he's not the only one.

According to Toshiro Nagoshi, general director of the IP, during the last SEGA Nama program, other characters such as Goro Majima, Taiga Saejima and Daigo Dojima will also be present in Yakuza: Like a Dragon in some way. "The amount of time that each of them will appear on the screen is slightly different," he says, so the weight they will have on the story will also be presumably different from each other.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon will arrive in the West in 2020

With regard to the story, it is confirmed that this delivery of Yakuza will feature secondary characters such as Saeko Mukouda, who works in a cabaret club, or Kouichi Adachi, once a police investigator and now a member of the metropolitan agents. The title will have a link system reminiscent of games such as RPGs in the Persona saga. In this article SEGA offers new details in this regard.

Yakuza 7: Like a Dragon (in Japan it will be marketed with the numerical figure), developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, will be released on January 16, 2020 in Japan for PlayStation 4. In North America and Europe it will also be launched, but at a time not yet specified in 2020. Nor do we know if it will be translated into Spanish.

Those who want to try the game, from the Japanese PS Store you can now access a free trial version. You can check the details here.
