Google Stadia: a user, surprised by an update screen; it's a bug

The North American company confirms that it is working on a solution together with 2K Games, so they will solve it soon.

The new Google platform was born with several promises under its arm. One of them, the most important, is that Stadia will bet on the immediacy of streaming: no updates, no waiting, no long and boring installations. Connect and play. It's that simple, and on any type of screen. However, a Reddit user, 121910, has encountered something unexpected: an update download screen, with his bar and everything.

But Google Stadia did not do without the updates? Some will ask. It has its explanation. It has happened with NBA 2K20, the sports title of 2K Games, but it is a bug. This has been assured by the technology giant itself, which has published the following: "Thank you for letting us know about this," Grace, CM of the platform said. “This is a bug in the game, which has shown a screen that should not show. We are working with the developers on this, so we will inform when we have an update. ”

Later, Grace said they continue working on this issue. “We hope to have an update for you before Thanksgiving. Meanwhile, NBA2K can be played correctly after a small update. Thank you for your patience, ”he concludes.

Why has this bug been introduced?

Eurogamer has asked Rich Leadbetter, head of Digital Foundry, about the nature of this bug. “I guess the title code was probably outdated, so there is a mechanism in the game to add updates. The strange thing is why it should have that mechanism, because one of the advantages of gaming systems in the cloud is that updates are made outside the server, without disturbing the user. This doesn't happen here for some reason, but I think they'll fix it pretty quickly.

Google Stadia was released in November, not without some problems. However, the full launch of the platform will take place in 2020.
