Quake II improves its graphic quality with the new update of Nvidia RTX

The 1997 classic receives an update that introduces improvements to the RTX patch implementation last June.

The fireproof Quake II returns once again to the front page of Nvidia's hand. Although last June it received its great update for the graphics that support RTX, today the company once again demonstrates its commitment to renew the old classic leaders in the late 90s.

This version 1.2 further improves the graphic quality that shows a title with more than twenty years behind. The new adjustments introduced will incorporate news for the most enthusiastic. From Nvidia they emphasize that they have updated more than 400 original textures, as well as the way they render the metals, which gives a renewed image at full scale.

But that was not all. Aspects such as water will now have their own rendering of reflections and “god rays” through the crystals. A setting called "Thick Glass" will take beyond the quality of those glasses and the way in which the lighting affects them.

This is just a small preview of all the news that the patch includes, whose full notes you can check on this link.

Remember the minimum requirements that are needed to fully enjoy RTX capabilities in it:

  • Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit or Ubuntu 16.04 LTS 64-bit

  • Processor: Intel Core i3-3220 or AMD equivalent

  • RAM memory: 8 GB

  • Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 or higher

  • Hard Drive: 2 GB

Game ready drivers now available

The new wave of controllers will make the cards under the Nvidia seal ready to take full advantage of Halo Reach's capabilities. You can access them through the tab embedded in your GeForce Experience panel or through the official website (version 441.41 WHQL), designed so that users who want it can download it manually.

According to the company, the first benchmarks made in the pre-launch build mark that graphics such as GeForce RXT 2060 exceed 120 images per second at a 4k resolution with all the visual options to the maximum. With the same configuration, a superior model like RTX 2080 SUPER will yield above 200 fps. Almost nothing.
