Pokémon Sword and Shield: they pass the League using only Magikarp

A user completes the Game Freak game for Nintendo Switch using only this iconic Pokémon from the Kanto region.

Every time a new generation of Pokémon is put up for sale, new challenges, self-imposed challenges and new creatures arise with which to complete the adventure. In Pokémon Sword and Shield there are a total of 400 species scattered throughout the Galar region; About a hundred are new, while the rest come from the previous seven generations, Magikarp included. And it is the latter who becomes the protagonist today: a player has completed the Pokémon League using only Magikarp.

The YouTube channel PokéTips, a content creator accustomed to such challenges as the well-known Nuzlocke – a variant where weakened Pokémon cannot be reused, as a survival mode – has shown in its latest video to be able to defeat Lionel, Galar League Champion, using a 100 level Magikarp; You can barely learn some MT like Hydro Pump and Boat.

This creature was not any one, however. The youtuber was responsible for raising him conscientiously; He raised the special attack EVs to the maximum and used the necessary Chapas to increase their individual genetic values (the IVs) accordingly. In short, a Magikarp maximized to be the best version of himself. And yes, he succeeded: he defeated Lionel in the confrontation, as we can see in the video.

You can also make your Magikarp shine in Galar if you use the advice of our guide. During these last days we have developed a step-by-step guide for raising Pokémon; We collect the key elements to upload the IVs, change Nature, how to get essential items such as the Iris Amulet – if you want shinys – or the Destination Loop and much more.

What PokéTips has achieved, beyond the funny thing that can be because it is a very weak Pokémon by nature, is one of the many self-imposed challenges of the players with each generation.
