PS5: Sony will continue betting on games focused on history

The Japanese company has designed titles such as God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn or Uncharted 4: The Thief's End.

There is practically a year for the new generation to start, but Sony still has two exclusive titles focused on the story, Ghost of Tsushima and The Last of Us Part 2. Throughout the present generation, the Japanese company has designed many video games designed for a player. Will you continue to do it on PS5? Everything seems to indicate yes, or at least that has been confirmed by Hermen Hulst, president of SIE Worldwide Studios.

They will follow the established line

Speaking to GamesIndustry, the leader of Guerrilla has said they will continue to create “great and spectacular experiences with history and characters at their core,” in the same way they have done in recent years. “We are committed to the type of games we have been designing at Worldwide Studios for a decade. We will continue to make these games, because we love to build them. ”

The developer has also specified that as a brand they are looking forward to recruiting new developers who are capable of producing experiences for new generations of players. Only during this generation, Sony has developed experiences like Uncharted 4: The Thief's End, God of War or Horizon Zero Dawn, in addition to Death Stranding, which although it does not belong to SIE Worldwide Studios (Kojima Productions is not Sony's first party), They have collaborated very closely.

In fact, Hideo Kojima and Guerrilla Games entered into a very close relationship, since the creative Japanese opted for the studio's engine to design their most recent production. Therefore, both teams worked side by side with the aim of squeezing the tools to the fullest.

Hermen Hult was chosen to replace Shawn Layden, who left the ranks of PlayStation (and Sony) after more than three decades of work at the company. Hult has been in charge of the division that brings together all the company's internal teams, including Insomniac Games, Naughty Dog, Sony Japan Studios or Santa Monica.
