Dying Light 2 – worlds don't have to be bigger, they have to get better

Even if Techland's game world of 'Dying Light 2' has roughly quadrupled compared to the original, in their opinion the size will play less of a role in the future, but the quality in it.

That's what the developer said in an interview now, who don't believe that everything has to get bigger and bigger to please the players.

"I'm not sure if they have to get bigger," says creative director Tymon Smektala. “I think what will change is the level of detail of everything. I don't think players really need bigger worlds, they need worlds that are of better quality and that they want to feel more immersed in what surrounds them. ”

Of course, Techland assumes that in the future some things can be improved even more, especially with regard to the details.

“The improvements in the next generation will allow us to go further in this direction. This is basically our mission as a studio. We want to create first-person, open-world games with high fidelity graphics and high fidelity immersion that make them feel like they're really there. ”

It is currently still unclear whether Dying Light 2 will also be released for the next generation. The game will appear for PS4 and Xbox One in spring 2020.
