After the last and failed film adaptation, Paramount takes over from the head of one of the Netflix fashion series.
The film adaptation of the 2017 Power Rangers did not achieve the expected success, both at the level of criticism and collection, thus giving up the project to continue with the franchise as planned. And it is that with a budget of 100 million dollars, the movie of the colorful superheroes barely raised 140 million worldwide, becoming a failed saga project shortly after its premiere. Now, and according to Variety, Paramount will soon collect the witness to restart the brand in the cinema of the hand of the creator of one of the fashion series on Netflix, which is none other than the celebrated The End of the F *** ing Jonathan Entwistle's World.
Journey to the 90s
The recent cinematic reboot of the Power Rangers did not convince the fans or the general public, dismantling Saban's ambitious intentions to produce numerous sequels over the next few years; and it is even talked about "five, six or seven movies." Nothing is further from reality; the franchise in cinemas ended with that adaptation.
Now, after the sale of rights to Hasbro, Paramomunt intends to recover a name as powerful as Power Rangers to try again, this time, with a new reboot that would take us to the golden age of the series, that is, the decade of the 90s, all through time travel that would lead to an adventure in which the popular superheroes would have to figure out how to return to today.
At the moment there is no information about its possible distribution or release date, although the presence of Jonathan Entwistle behind the cameras seems more than assured; on the other hand, the script would be borne by Patrick Burleigh. We will see if Power Rangers manages to overcome the failed adaptation of a couple of years ago with a new vision of the saga and an image too anchored at 80 and 90.
