Capcom registers Dino Crisis, Darkstalkers and more again

The company gives hope to those who expect a remake of their survival horror with dinosaurs, which could follow the steps of Resident Evil 2 and 3.

Something is up to Capcom. The company, a newly resurrected phoenix, has blown up all the alarms in recent days with the new brands it has registered in Japan, including names of those that cause a turn in the hearts of its followers. Power Stone, Rockman (Mega Man in the West), Darkstalkers and the one we were probably all waiting for, Dino Crisis. Although these types of movements do not always mean that there are ads or new games on the horizon (there is the example of Nintendo and Golden Sun), it is a ray of hope for all those who hope that Resident Evil is not the only saga that returns to His glory days.

Sagas dead?

Pulling the archive, the last installment of Power Stone, the sequel to the original, came out in 2000 (although there was a remake of both for PSP in 2006, Power Stone Collection); Mega Man has never finished leaving (with the notable Mega Man 11, of 2018, as a more recent example) and Darkstalkers has been without an original delivery since 1997, when it came out of the fence. Of course, the latter has since had a good dose of console versions, compilations and even a remake in 2013, Darkstalkers Resurrection. In other words, with their more and less, all have had their chance over the past few years. All but Dino Crisis. The mythical work of Shinji Mikami (also signed by Resident Evil, Vanquis and The Evil Within, among others) has not even allowed us to lick our wounds with a miserable remastering, the mediocre Dino Crisis 3 being our last experience with the saga. But even that bad taste in the mouth has been forgiven by users, who have made the series one of the most remake requests and rumors and speculation accumulates every year. Will Capcom finally pay attention?

Dino Crisis is still a survival horror with dinosaurs. An idea as attractive as Spielberg's films. Exploiting the "boom of the dynasty" of Jurassic Park, the game proposed to put us in the shoes of Regina, a special forces agent who went to Ibis Island to investigate the military armament of Dr. Edward Kirk, a well-known scientist who He had been dead for several years. Among the inventions of this one was a technology capable of manipulating the space-time that had transferred prehistoric dinosaurs to the present, causing them to raze the island and assassinate everyone who was put before them. The game inherited many of Resident Evil's mechanics (such as inventory, puzzles or the health system), but managed to offer an experience with its own personality, dynamic camera angles and its own real-time engine with 3D rendering. An experience that many have not yet forgotten and that more than one would pay to revive.
