Mojang confirmed that the Minecraft 26.2 Chaos Cubed update will roll out on 16 June 2026.
Versioning and pre‑release cadence
The new naming scheme adopts the year’s last two digits followed by the drop number, making this the second major 2026 release. Final pre‑release builds and release candidates will arrive shortly, after which Mojang will address remaining bugs.
Underground overhaul: Sulfur Caves and the Sulfur Cube
Hidden beneath the Overworld, the Sulfur Caves biome introduces warm‑toned lighting, pools of sulfur, and the exclusive Sulfur Cube mob. The creature can consume any block, gaining an archetype that dictates movement, bounce, or buoyancy.
Exploring sulfur pools triggers a nausea effect, while towering Sulfur Spikes and occasional geysers—columns of gas launched from deep water pools topped with Potent Sulfur blocks—add environmental hazards.
Cross‑edition enhancements and new audio
Java Edition users will receive Bedrock’s friend‑list system, though peer‑to‑peer multiplayer has been delayed pending the update’s launch. A fresh music disc titled “Bounce,” composed by Finger Spit, also joins the soundtrack.
With the release date locked, players can begin planning builds that feed Sulfur Cubes or exploit the new cave formations, while Mojang finalizes the update’s polish.
