Dean Harrison claimed his inaugural Superbike TT triumph on Sunday, converting a commanding start into a decisive six‑lap victory.
Dominant Pace and Final Gaps
From the opening lap, Harrison surged ahead into Glen Helen and never relinquished the lead, extending his margin to roughly 33 seconds before the second pit window. On the final circuit, he eased off, surrendering just under ten seconds yet still crossing the line well clear of the field.
Podium Battle and Supporting Performances
Peter Hickman, aboard a BMW 1000RR, secured second place, finishing 15.580 seconds behind Harrison and becoming the sole non‑Honda rider inside the top five. A fluctuating duel with Michael Dunlop for the remaining podium spots tipped in Hickman’s favour after Dunlop lingered four seconds longer in the pit on lap four, allowing Hickman to maintain his advantage to the end.
Dunlop ultimately rounded out the podium, 12.4 seconds shy of Hickman and nearly a minute behind Joshua Brookes, who claimed fourth. TT veteran John McGuinness, at 54 years old, delivered a solid fifth‑place effort. The remainder of the top ten featured Ian Hutchinson, Jamie Coward, Nathan Harrison, Mike Browne and Paul Jordan.
Retirements and Upcoming Action
The race saw seven competitors retire, while three additional riders failed to appear on the grid. Riders will return to the Mountain Course on Tuesday for the four‑lap Supersport TT, followed by the three‑lap Sportbike TT later that day.
