Fortnite receives content from Unreal Tournament

Fortnite receives, for the first time, content from Unreal Tournament, another of the Epic Games sagas. Could it be the beginning of something bigger?

On December 19 he arrived at the Fortnite Battle Royale turkey shop, for the first time since its launch, content from Unreal Tournament, another popular Epic Games sagas, currently in hiatus. We tell you what this can mean for both Unreal and for Season 1 of the Fortnite Battle Pass Chapter 2:

Fortnite: Unreal Tournament content arrives at the paVos store

As we say, on December 19, 2019 a song called “Cold Unreal” arrived at Fortnite's daily turkey shop, priced at 200 paVos (approximately € 2). Here you have a sample of the same one minute that we have recorded ourselves:

It is nothing more and nothing less than the theme «Foregone Destruction», Unreal Tournament, video game released in 1999 on PC and received versions for Mac OS, PlayStation 2 and Dreamcast some time later. This theme is one of the most famous of the game, because it is the one that sounded in the background during the CTF-Face level:

This level has appeared in many installments of the saga, and its theme has been updated over the years. Here you have a video of Unreal Tournament III in which we play at the Facing Worlds level, with a new remix of Foregone Destruction in the background:

The last installment of Unreal Tournament came out in 2014 for PC, and the intention of Epic Games was that the game was developed both by themselves and by the community, with the ultimate goal of the title being free, and funded through content of your own bazaar. It is still ironic that Fortnite receives content from this game, since it is the Battle Royale that precisely ended up "killing" Unreal Tournament. Given its popularity, in July 2017 the majority of the UT development team went on to develop Fortnite.

However, this precedent could lay the foundations for some type of larger collaboration between sagas. The most obvious example would be the arrival of skins from Unreal Tournament to Fortnite. In this way, emblematic characters such as Malcolm, Xan Kriegor or Gorge could once again have another opportunity in the online multiplayer world.
