The Wolf Among Us 2: Development Restarted Completely

The new owners of Telltale Games want the creative team to start their journey from scratch, so they have not been based on the previous material.

Telltale Games is back. The developer specializing in narrative adventures succumbed to bankruptcy, but as the phoenix has been reborn with the intention of resuscitating one of its intellectual properties. So, The Wolf Among Us 2, which was already in development when Telltale went bankrupt, will return as planned. However, it will not do so with an earlier version, since the development has restarted.

Jamie Ottilie, new CEO of Telltale Games, has reported in an interview with USgamer that the sequel to the video game is not based on the material made, but that it develops practically from scratch. AdHoc Studio, formed by former employees of the studio, is behind The Wolf Among Us 2, among which are some of those who designed the first video game.

"We have completely restarted the development of the game," Ottilie told USgamer. "We believe it is the best to offer the new creative team a new beginning." According to the American media, the company wants to incorporate other key members of the old Telltale who worked fully on the canceled version. However, it is not clear that it will be possible to do it on time.

The acquisition and recovery of some licenses

Telltale Games was acquired by LCG Entertainment months ago, in an operation that also contemplated some specific intellectual properties. The company has celebrated its return with the publication of Batman: Shadows Edition, which includes a new game mode that allows you to enjoy the original adventures with a noir style. As Ottilie declared then, "this is just the beginning of a much more expansive plan to expand our catalog of titles."

At the moment it is not known what has been the destiny of other intellectual properties of the company. The Walking Dead: A Telltale Games Series is in the hands of Skybound, while Game of Thrones or Stranger Things have an uncertain future. The game based on the Netflix series was canceled as soon as the studio, drowned in debt, succumbed.
