Wood Brothers Racing has confirmed that 21‑year‑old Jesse Love will pilot the No. 21 for the 2027 NASCAR Cup Series.
Love’s Rapid Rise and Current Credentials
Love burst onto the competitive scene in 2023, taking ten victories in 20 ARCA races and capturing the title that same year. He has since added three wins in the NASCAR O‑Reilly series with Richard Childress Racing, secured the 2025 championship, and tallied seven Cup starts—including a best finish of 24th at the 2024 Brickyard 400. The driver now sits second in the O‑Reilly standings heading into the season’s final races.
“Driving the No. 21 for Wood Brothers Racing is truly an honor,” Love said. “This team has played such an important role in NASCAR history… I’m excited to get to work, continue learning, and compete at the highest level.”
Transition from Josh Berry
Love will take over the No. 21 seat from Josh Berry, who the team announced he would leave after two seasons. Wood Brothers Racing, one of the oldest teams in the sport dating back to the early 1950s, has amassed 101 race victories over its long history.
Leadership Perspective and Forward Outlook
Jon Wood, president of Wood Brothers Racing, highlighted Love’s track record at a young age. “He’s demonstrated the ability to win races, compete for championships, and manage expectations at a high level,” Wood said. “We’re looking forward to giving him the opportunity to take the next step in his career.”
When Love joins, the historic team will aim to elevate its Cup presence, turning the storied No. 21 into a competitive threat on the national stage.
