Jorge Martin Dismisses Points Lead, Says He’s Not Feeling 100% Physically or on Bike

Jorge Martin dismisses points lead: I’m not feeling 100% physically or on the bike

Jorge Martin climbs to championship lead after Dutch GP

After a third‑place finish at the Assen circuit, Spanish rider Jorge Martin seized the top spot in the MotoGP standings, moving five points ahead of Marco Bezzecchi.

Fitness and bike integration remain Martin’s priority

Martin has reiterated that his main focus is returning to full‑fitness and achieving a deeper understanding of the Aprilia RS‑GP platform, rather than concentrating on the temporary points advantage.

He admitted that back pain continued to hinder his performance this weekend and that he is still fine‑tuning the bike’s setup to suit his riding style.

“The goal is to find that optimal balance so every race feels natural,” Martin said, noting he has yet to deliver his full potential due to lingering physical challenges and the need for a baseline setup.

Season dynamics and future battles

The title race now features a tight spread: Martin leads by seven points, Bezzecchi follows with a five‑point gap, and Ducati’s Fabio di Giannantonio sits nine points further back. The top eight riders are separated by just 63 points.

With five podiums—including a win—in the first ten races, Martin has proven his consistency, but he insists on a race‑by‑race approach as the championship progresses.

He acknowledged that several competitors, including Chris Oriola, Marc Márquez, and potential challengers like Ai Ogura, will be vying for the title once the season reaches its second half at Sachsenring.

Martin expressed confidence that, despite the current standings, he will be prepared to contest the title if the conditions align in the remaining eleven races.
