Our Christmas games

Like every year, we share the games that we are going to enjoy these days.

As every year, the members of the magazine open the door of their bedrooms and living rooms to tell us what they are going to play on these dates, so conducive to video games and how good memories bring us to those who enjoy this hobby.

Bioshock The Collection, César Otero

It is curious that although we have 5000 games pending, we continue to return to those who marked us. A couple of days ago I was testing a PS3 Bioshock and the ‘5 minutes’ of the test was extended to Dr. Steinman. And I bit, so I turned on the PS4 and put the unstoppable remastered Bioshock Collection, starting with Bioshock Infinite to pass them this time in chronological order, because finishing the Marine Pantheon DLC 1 and 2 and not playing the first Bioshock just after is as impossible as Watch Rogue One and don't want to put Star Wars Ep IV right next.

So this Christmas I am right now on high. And then underwater, because I feel at home in those dystopian utopias of Master Levine. And for the inevitable ‘Would you kindly? ' Christmas family trips, the Switch with two of my incunables comes to the rescue: the recent Ghostbusters the Videogame remasters and the Disney Aladdin / The Lion King duo, almost nothing! And you, what will you play? As Andrew Ryan said: “We all make choices; but, in the end, our choices make us. ”

‘Greetings from Rapture, Happy New Year 1959…’

Days Gone, Joaquín Relaño

It has been the great absent, the great defenestrated, the great ignored of all the GOTY prizes awarded in this year 2019 that already leaves us. I mean Days Gone, that PS4 exclusive created by Bend Studio (which premiered with the abominable and unmentionable Bubsy 3D, but later gave us the glorious Syphon Filter saga), launched in April, and treated by press and public as another More zombie game, or triple (with lowercase) of Sony for 2019. I must confess that, for lack of time, I could not start playing with it seriously and dedicated until a few months ago. But, buf, with such a wonder, misunderstood and greatly undervalued, I have found myself.

The main virtue of Days Gone is that it does everything right. Among the things he does well, there are many that do them very well. And among the things he does very well, there are some that even do them exceptionally well. I have not been able to see edges: Gameplay, control system, graphics, soundtrack, the structure of its open world, the development of its narrative thread, the depth and evolution of its characters, the impeccable writing of its dialogues … Anyway , which for me is the undoubted GOTY of 2019. I am taking my time to enjoy it, so, during my free time I am happy to give you Christmas, I will continue to go through the Shit (do not get angry, that's what the game characters call the immense terrain, outside the camps, in which the action of Days Gone takes place) with my wandering motorcycle, helping the weak and punishing the relentless.

Pillars of Eternity 2, Virginia Mejías @arashhi

I'm a bad backer, I have to confess. A few years ago I left a loaf on the Kickstarter of Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire to get the big box edition and, well … a year ago waiting on the shelf. I only tried it a little, waiting for the right moment to dedicate the hours it deserves. Well, that moment has arrived. This holiday I plan to travel the confines of Eora and finish until the last mission. Another game I would like to start is Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which is already in my library ready and ready. I want to see what Dark Souls mechanics looks like in a Jedi.

On the other hand, my Switch will not rest for a moment these holidays; It is my escape tool while the family engages in political discussions, or they give themselves body and soul with Raphael's Christmas Eve special. I wanted a graphic adventure on Switch and I bought the Red Strings Club offer from the Deconstructeam boys. It looks good. These days I will also carry on a good string of family games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, that my little cousins have a great time. Finally, my partisans will not miss Halo Reach 4K, ideal to release tensions and curse every living being. ¿Meto Control? Bah, come on! I said very ugly things about him and maybe I eat my words. Well, I leave it there as a wild card. Little more here, happy holidays to all!

Super Mario Kart 8, Sergio Melero @sermella

Christmas holidays and video games. Without a doubt, and although depending on the year I have more or less free time, one of the things I enjoy on these dates (yes, much more than the nougat or eating the grapes) is playing video games with my family and friends.

Therefore, we will give hard titles such as Super Mario Kart 8 Deluxe or CTR Nitro Fueled. Of course, when we stay home alone we have the right titles: embrace the power of force with Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order or return to accompany the luminaire thanks to Dragon Quest XI S. Because, as you know, I always pursue the adventure in this videogames

Death Stranding, Laura Luna

This Christmas I want to be popular and I will play Death Stranding, which I have left poor Norman Reedus lying on the mountain. It is a game that arouses me a lot of curiosity for all the mystery and expectations that have involved this time. Nor forget Overcooked 2, ideal for family gatherings and the litmus test of all friendship and relationship.

The Last of Us, Nacho Requena @nachoMoL

I play once a year the best game of the decade, that is, The Last of Us, and since I did not do it this summer, it is time to rush to finish 2019 in conditions. I'm also delivering a package with Sam, that the world must be rebuilt 100%.

Titanfall 2, Franchuzas

Since this Christmas is also the end of the decade (unless you are one of those who count 2020 as part of the 2010s), I have rejuvenated and will continue to play several titles sporadically, in a recap plan. Although not to list the tuntun, I will say that right now, at the time of writing this paragraph, you catch me with Titanfall 2. His campaign, although short, is one of the best that I have had the pleasure of playing in any FPS and Lends to return whenever there is a free gap.

Here Respawn took a spectacular gunplay, tuned for the multiplayer, and built around it levels full of creative concepts. Something that can go from a very inspired use of the platform with wall race, to the Prince of Persia, to alternating puzzles between planes that could well be included in a hypothetical Portal 3. If for some reason you have not played it yet, no let the generation finish without doing it. Reduced as it usually is, even ignoring the multiplayer completely is one of the best purchases that any fan of the genre can do.

Pokémon Shield, Eli López @EliGamesLife

Being about to finish 2019, I should be happy for what is coming, although, in reality, I feel a bit overwhelmed to think that I will accumulate more games due to lack of time. A few days ago, I reorganized all the ones that I had bought throughout this year and I have to say that they have been enough, more than a score, although I realized something: I have not spent even half … So I have proposed catch up a little during these weeks. For now, I'm giving up on Pokémon Shield, but I hope to finish Luigi’s Mansion 3 and Concrete Genie as a minimum as well. Do not feel bad about having so many games accumulated. We are all in the same boat. Merry Christmas!

Elysium Disc, Paula Croft

Disco Elysium is one of the great winners of the year, both in awards and critics. Role in its purest form, with surprising innovations and a unique atmosphere that invites us to immerse ourselves. This is the game to which I will spend more time this Christmas, just to finish it and enjoy it calmly to discover all the options it offers us.

On the other hand, since we spend these holidays surrounded by loved ones, will a cooperative game fall to Cadence of Hyrule and a family multiplayer to Super Mario Party, will I get the victory?

Super Mario World, Israel Mallén

Christmas is a time of rest, of taking stock with loved ones and remembering everything lived in the year that leaves us. With video games I follow the same reasoning; I always take advantage of the holidays to settle my pixelated debts. This year will not be an exception and I plan to take off several thorn, as long as the polvorones trajín allows me to continue holding a command.

To fight the cold, I chose to beard. And what better inspiration than Kratos, how good it looks in what was GOTY of 2018. He had pending to share his Nordic adventure with Atreus in God of War and these dates are the best moment.

I also intend to play a basic classic like Super Mario World, because there is no better Christmas gift than a good platform. Finally, if time permits, I will revisit the puzzles of Baba is You, my 2019 GOTY and one of the most groundbreaking and brave indies of the decade.

Ghostbuster Remastered, Ricardo Fernández @RicardoFAndres

This year Santa Claus has brought me Ghostbusters Remastered for Xbox One. As a great Ghostbusters fan and even having spent the original countless times, I'm going to spend the rest of Christmas and entry to 2020 testing my proton team against class omnivagrants V. A cover of the previous generation that deserved this remastering – although it could have been better – and that should be rejuvenated, at least, every few months if one is a follower of the heroes of New York. Now I just need to find the Tobin Spirits Guide that I don't know where I left it …

Devil May Cry 5, Yago Lago Álvarez @YagoLagoAlv

2019 has been a hard year that I have dedicated almost exclusively to preparing competitions, so I have barely played video games. This Christmas I plan to make up for myself by playing my most desired of 2019. Starting with Devil May Cry V, trying to assimilate and dominate the varied and vast arsenal that puts at our disposal to eliminate demons in the most stylish (and sexy) way possible. I will also pay my particular penance in that lush pixelated and grotesque Easter Week that our countrymen from The Game Kitchen took off their sleeves with Blasphemous, which moves so well in the very fine line that separates the frustration of the desire for exploration. I will enjoy Trials Rising, with the eternal promise of one more clue and leave it while I try to get the capricious laws of physics on my side to get that caper that seemed impossible.

And of course, my most anticipated game of the year, that superb remake of Resident Evil 2, one of my favorite favorites to which I literally die for playing. The most visceral terror never looked so good. All this seasoned with cooperatives to the title that I have played the most in recent years, Killing Floor 2, and an eternal pending that already plays, with attempts to 1 credit to Dodonpachi Resurrection. "When I close my eyes I see bullets … A Bullet Hell."

Forza Horizon 4 – Alejandro Castillo @ acastillo117

No matter how many months go by, I'm still stuck at the Horizon festival. To the amount of exclusive activities are added the constant updates that it has been receiving without additional cost, such as the contents of Top Gear, Forzathlones and the icing on the cake: the Eliminator. I never thought that the battle royale formula would fit within the playable scheme of a driving title, but Playground has managed to place its personal imprint as only they know how to do. The result is a fireproof mode, it forces you to navigate the map in a completely different way compared to the traditional style. My Christmas smells like burnt rubber.

Valkyria Chronicles 4, Aaron Rodriguez Lugo @ragna_blzbl

Christmas, dates marked to spend with family … and at some point also to continue enjoying video games, although in a special way. There are many titles that have stood out throughout this year, all of them not exempt from quality. Although this time my interest in playing time will be dedicated to a title that appeared last year: Valkyria Chronicles 4.

Years ago I enjoyed the first installment of the series and its subsequent sequels, although not as much as the original, so the fourth installment of the Sega saga, which includes both new features and a renewed cast of characters while returning to the scheme of immense maps in which to travel long distances with the different units to defeat the enemies, it is presented at this time as my choice for these dates, especially with the inclusion of battles in snowy fields (which is ideal with this and Time of the year).

So the fun commanding the different units, exploiting the system of orders, seeking to try varied strategies when acting and moving along different maps with different types of environment is guaranteed.

Dragon Quest XI S, Pedro Herrero

Although the pending lists only increase, more in these sales dates everywhere, these days I will dedicate them exclusively to two titles: on the one hand, Death Stranding. The world created by Kojima has caught me incomprehensibly, and I say "incomprehensibly" because I admit that playably it is not even a paragon of virtues, but its universe, setting, characters, etc … have done all the work. On the other, for moments when the TV is busy, Dragon Quest XI S on Nintendo Switch, which I've been close to 50 hours ago and only likes me at every step I take on it. I thought I would never get hooked on a JRPG -saga Person apart-, but being a fan of the legendary Dragon Quest VIII, I had to try this one, and I have to strongly recommend it to you. Happy holidays!
