PS5: According to Blizzard, much faster than the new Xbox & current PCs

Playfront

Also over Christmas, the PS5 is the number one topic of conversation and this time it is Blizzard that is fueling further discussions about the next-gen consoles from Sony. Once again, the focus is on speed, at which the PS5 should have a clear advantage, both over the new Xbox and current PCs.

In any case, the question arises how Sony wants to use a simple SSD to get such advantages if PCs and the new Xbox also rely on it. The key to this should be the input / output (I / O) around which the entire system is built. Speed is therefore one of the design focal points of the PS5, which Mike Ybarra from Blizzard and former Xbox VP would never have seen in a comparable PC.

Experience on own tests?

The custom SSD is said to be connected directly to the controller, and the software is designed to achieve the fastest response time. It is believed that Blizzard has long had PS5 dev kits and has been able to test this itself. Based on the leaks for the new Xbox, the PS5 should be twice as fast and thus have a decisive difference and advantage over the new Xbox.

The various statements from Sony, Microsoft and various developers are also interesting in this context. While Sony and the first-party studios confidently speak of the fact that there will be no more loading times, for example, Microsoft continues to speak only of trying to eliminate them as much as possible. In any case, it doesn't sound quite as confident.

What the two new consoles will actually achieve in the end, however, will probably not be known until next year.
