Frictional Games will soon present its new game, hopefully 2020 will return a terrifying year, full of scary games and survival horror.
There is movement around Frictional Games. The creators of the Amensia saga and the terrifying SOMA seem to be ready to announce their next project. The study, which has been working in silence since the launch of the latter, has updated its website, which is now called NextFrictionalGame.com and shows what a first hint about its future looks like. The page has become completely clean and black, with what seems … a light? blinking in the center of it, or is it in the background, in the distance?
The developer used that same web address shortly before the SOMA announcements and the Amnesia sequel, A Machine of Pigs. On the latter it is worth remembering that, although they announced it as the creators of the saga, it was not made by Frictiona Games, but by The Chinese Room. In other words, the study has been working on this new project for five years, since SOMA (2015), curiously the same time that separated our adventure in the PATHOS-II of Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Everything indicates that in 2020 we will return to fear of the good.
Differentiating terror
The only thing we know for sure is that the "Next Frictional Game" belongs again to the team's favorite genre, terror, but as recognized by the creative director of the studio, Thomas Grip, in an interview with Gameranx, they also want to focus on the narrative and differentiate their proposals. That not all the scary games they do feel the same. To this end, Frictional wants the weight of the atmosphere to be even greater and now works simultaneously in two parallel games that allow him to do totally different things. They are called Codenamed Secret 1 and Secret 2, and it seems that we will soon know of one of them.
