McLaren seized their 14th win at the Hungaroring as the team’s latest upgrade propelled them to the front of the 2026 Formula 1 field.

Sky Sports F1 analyst and former driver Martin Brundle noted that if McLaren’s new package delivers equally on other circuits, the gap between the top four teams tightens further. Brundle added that the season still holds 291 points on offer if the remaining races run as scheduled.

Conflicts in the region caused the Saudi Arabian and Bahrain Grands Prix to be cancelled earlier this year. The Bahrain event has now been rescheduled for Malaysia’s Sepang circuit, taking place from 2 – 4 October. Brundle emphasized that any removal of the Qatar and Abu Dhabi races would likely trigger a European replacement early next month, a move the teams should meet without hesitation.
