Playfront

Big Ben and Kylotonn Games have been working on a new Test Drive game since 2016, the license of which could be obtained from Atari at the time. Development is currently in full swing and the first possible details are known.

If you look at the job ads at Kylotonn Games, you will find numerous positions to be filled, including Character Artists, Environment Artists, World Builder Artists, Vehicle Outsourcing or Lead Artists, who should explicitly work on Test Drive. The studios in Paris and Lyon are mentioned as locations, i.e. where the then developer Eden Games is also based. This suggests that parts of the original team are also working on the new Test Drive.

First details known?

In addition, possible first details about the game have now been leaked, according to which Test Drive should appear towards the end of 2020, probably also directly for PS5 and the new Xbox. As so often, the appointment can also be postponed.

This time the location is said to be South America and the map is significantly larger than before. There are said to be around 90 vehicles, although there may still be deviations due to license problems. Sport cars, electric cars, hybrids and classics are planned.

The gameplay is based on the previous games, with as much freedom as possible. Purchasing real estate and his personal lifestyle also play a major role. On the technical side, the KT engine and physics (WRC), as well as a significantly upgraded graphics, are probably used.

The multiplayer gets an even greater meaning, with an active support, comparable to a live service, but also the single player should not be neglected. However, the focus is clearly on MMO support, as before.

The job ads also speak of realistic character models, environments inspired by China and the USA, good quality car gameplay, the creation of clothing and accessories, and the MMO approach that Test Drive has always followed.

Basically sounds like a typical Test Drive game again. You have to worry a bit about Kylotonn Games, which in recent years have been more about quantity than quality. We can only hope that they know about the value of the Test Drive franchise and that they will spend a little more money on development.
