Martin answered the Silverstone challenge by re‑adopting the same base specification that powered the Aprilia squad to a dominant Le Mans weekend. The rider combined that foundation with a bespoke aero package unavailable to other Aprilia teammates, giving him a distinctive edge.
“It’s the same bike we used at Le Mans, but with fresh aerodynamic elements,” Martin told reporters. “The setup is identical to the Le Mans version.”
Confidence on the Grid – Pole to Victory
Starting from pole, Martin led every lap of the half‑distance event. His record‑breaking qualifying lap and clean sprint win signalled a turnaround after a run of “unforced errors” that had dented his confidence in recent races.
“We were out of the hole we were in, and this gives us a lot of motivation,” he added. “Full trust in the team and myself. It was only a matter of time to get back.”
Tyre Strategy and Biting Pace
All frontrunners, including Martin, elected the soft rear Michelin for maximum grip. The rider’s preference for balance – “front and rear balanced, you don’t need to override” – helped him manage tyre wear over the 20‑lap sprint.
When Ai Ogura pushed hard midway, Martin’s superior set‑up let him sustain pace and widen the gap to a 1.5‑second margin at the finish.
