Uncharted: the film loses Travis Knight as director

The Uncharted movie goes through a new bump when losing its last director, Travis Knight, due to a programming problem with Tom Holland.

The American medium Deadline reports that due to "programming" problems, Travis Knight, the director of Bumblebee, will soon join the growing group of directors who have been discarded from the Uncharted-based movie, the Naughty Dog game and Sony PlayStation. This time the problem has arisen in the wake of Tom Holland (actor who will play Drake), who should record the new Spider-Man movie this summer and therefore will not have time to shoot Uncharted.

A cinematic road full of obstacles

Due to the aforementioned setback, in which Tom Holland will not be available to record Uncharted this summer, Travis Knight (the director) will have to leave the project approximately three months after joining him. Even so, the actors do remain because Sony, the studio behind the film, still wants Holland and Mark Wahlberg (playing their mentor, Sully) to make the film. Of course, with a later release date.

We remember that this tug-of-war situation has been going on for more than a decade. Despite having five games, very well defined characters and a series of potential stories to tell, it seems that making an Uncharted movie is not as easy as it seems. There are many details that escape us, such as why they have not endured the director in charge until filming begins and instead decided to do without it. Some reasons could be the economic ones (since a production of these characteristics has a large budget behind) or that the proposed scripts are not up to expectations and Sony wants to get a great movie from the Uncharted saga.

Uncharted movie Tom Holland

Be that as it may, we will have to wait even longer to have tangible news of what the Uncharted movie can give of itself. A film that will review the youth of Nathan Drake and hopefully lives up to expectations.
