Vince Zampella, co-founder of Respawn, will take over DICE L.A.

The creative, known for his work with Titanfal, Call of Duty or Medal of Honor, will change the name of the studio based in Los Angeles.

Vince Zampella will be the new leader of DICE L.A., the so far DICE support studio based in Los Angeles, which will change its name as soon as it assumes its new role. As reported by the Los Angeles Times, the co-founder of Respawn Entertainment will continue to be linked to Electronic Arts in a movement that seeks to launch a new original project, currently in secret. Also, Stig Asmussen, director of Jedi Star Wars: Fallen Order, will be the director of Respawn narrative video games.

The studio, whose new name is currently unknown, will work independently at Respawn Entertainment, although Zampella will continue to work in some way with them, whose headquarters are in Stockholm, Sweden.

Why Zampella wants to change its name to DICE L.A.

"We will probably change our name," he says in an interview with the media. “We want to give a new image. We want people to say: "This is a new destination to go to and create new content." I think we have the image of being a support study of DICE Stockholm. I think that changing names is important for people and say: ‘Hey! Come here to work. We are going to do amazing things. ”

The objective is that, from the name of the study, it is perceived that it is an independent team within EA, which will not assume the outsourcing of the work of those responsible for Titanfall 2, Respawn Entertainment and the recent Jedi Star Wars: Fallen Order.

More movements within EA in 2020

This restructuring will be supervised by Laura Miele, current director of studies in Electronic Arts, in an attempt to expand the range of titles available in the company's offer.

In addition to the change of roles that affects Vince Zampella and Stig Asmussen, there are two other movements to highlight: on the one hand, Chad Grenier, who becomes the head of everything that affects Apex Legends, his great bulwark in the genre of the battle royale; while Pete Hirchmann will deal with the intellectual property of Medal of Honor, currently under the charge of a project related to virtual reality.

Vince Zampella has hinted at his meeting with the Los Angeles Times that they might be working on more projects than we think, but they haven't transcended more details; They have also refused to comment on the number of employees of the company and what is this new video game about when they will start working in the first place.
