PlatinumGames promises "great news" in 2020; begin "a new stage"

The Japanese study anticipates that they have great things on their hands; In addition, the study will be working at “high speed” during this year.

PlatinumGames believes that 2020 will be a great year for them. The Japanese studio, responsible for titles such as Bayonetta, NieR: Automata, Vanquish and the recent Astral Chain, is currently immersed in the development of several titles; including Bayonetta 3 and Babylon’s Fall. According to Kenichi Sato, president and CEO of the company, this course is "the beginning of a new stage."

2020 is the year of the Olympic Games, specifically in Tokyo, a topic of conversation that is never lacking in interviews such as the one granted by PlatinumGames to the Japanese medium Inside Games; not only because of the impact this event will have on Japan, but also because of what it can accelerate some developments in order not to overlap with those dates. It is for this reason that they will work “at full speed” during 2020, although it has not specified whether we will see any of the titles that are underway ready before July 24, the day in which the Olympic Games will begin.

What PlatinumGames has in hand: not only Bayonetta 3

PlatinumGames promises "great news" for fans. It is to be hoped, however, that in the coming months we will know more about Bayonetta 3, currently under development by the Hideki Kamiya team exclusively for Nintendo Switch and that, according to them, "properly progresses" its development. Beyond that, Babylon’s Fall, which was presented last December at Sony’s State of Play with Square Enix.

Finally, it should be noted that Atsushi Inaba, development producer and executive director at PlatinumGames, said in mid-2019 that they had two other unannounced projects underway, two new intellectual properties entirely owned by them.

The closest release of titles developed by PlatinumGames is in the remastered Bayonetta and Vanquish pack, which will arrive on Xbox One and PlayStation on February 18, 2020 with a physical version. Both titles can be enjoyed in 4K and 60FPS resolution on Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro.
