BBC Secures World Rally Championship Broadcast Rights for 2027‑2029
Starting in 2027, the BBC will air live coverage of the World Rally Championship, broadcasting select stages—including every Power Stage—and producing 60‑minute highlight programmes for each rally.
Co‑Production Across BBC Regions
The new agreement brings together BBC Scotland, BBC Cymru Wales and BBC Northern Ireland, combining their talent and resources for a unified coverage package.
It marks the first return of the WRC to the BBC since Rally GB 2001, after the channel lost rights to Channel 4 in 2002.
Digital Platform and Coverage Details
All action will be available on the BBC iPlayer, with the deal including digital rights that allow content to be shared across the network’s platforms.

Rally Scotland Returns with a New Identity
Rally Scotland will join the WRC calendar in 2027, bringing top‑tier rallying back to Britain for the first time since 2019.
The event has unveiled a new logo featuring a stylised Saltire derived from a rally car tyre, emphasising its Scottish roots.
Hugh Chambers, CEO of Motorsport UK, noted, “The new visual identity gives Rally Scotland a clear mark of its own and helps us reach long‑standing fans and new audiences alike.”
WRC Promotion Strategy and Future Outlook
Collision‑free acquisition of WRC Promoter by Cosmobilis and Park Square Capital, and new CEO Eric Boullier, has repositioned the series’ commercial direction.
Boullier stated, “Our partnership with the BBC provides a powerful platform to reconnect with existing rally fans and introduce the championship to a new generation.”
Previously, live coverage from every round was held by TNT Sports (formerly BT Sport) since 2014, while ITV broadcast highlights from 2020, and S4C covered the championship in Wales.
