DragonSpeed has tapped Cadillac‑factory driver Sebastien Bourdais to lead its final entry of the season at the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s Motul Petit Le Mans, with the Frenchman taking the wheel of a Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R.
Rear‑end experience returns to GTD Pro
Bourdais, who will exit the Hertz Team JOTA FIA WEC program after the season, has a long history on the endurance circuit. He captured the end of event at Road Atlanta twice in the ten‑hour Endurance Cup and had operatively finished his last GT effort in 2019 with the Chip Ganassi‑run Ford GT program.
DragonSpeed’s elite squad for the final sprint
Joining Bourdais in the Corvette are regular DragonSpeed teammates Giacomo Altoe and Casper Stevenson. The trio will take over the vehicle owned by Eric “Elton” Julian’s Emil’s privateer outfit, which finished runner‑up in the GTD Pro class last year after a challenging campaign running a Ferrari 296 GT3 for GM.
Julian’s view on the comeback
Elton Julian praised the opportunity to finish the season in “the big boys” field, emphasizing the need for a proven driver. He added: “With Bourdais in the Z06, we’ll bring everything we own to the Garage Motor and the teams at GM will feel the heat.”
By re‑entering GTD Pro for the 10‑hour stretch at Road Atlanta, DragonSpeed switches from its recent Ferrari push to the Corvette’s rear‑wheel platform and hopes to secure a victory that caps a season of close competition.
