Sam Mayer will exit the Haas Factory Team after the 2026 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series season and pilot the No. 1 JRM Chevrolet in 2027.

“I’m looking forward to working with Sam again,” Dale Earnhardt Jr., co‑owner of JR Motorsports, said when announcing the move. He added that Mayer’s growth since the 2021‑2024 partnership, and the team’s shared history of victories, make the reunion timely.
Mayer expressed enthusiasm: “I’m really happy to be back with JR Motorsports and behind the wheel of the No. 1 Chevrolet.” He thanked Starkey for their partnership and noted he still has goals to finish the current season before pivoting to 2027 at Daytona.
Performance Overview and Sponsorship
Currently driving the No. 41 for Haas, Mayer sits fifth in the 2026 Chase. He has logged eight secondary‑level NASCAR wins, seven while with JRM, and finished third in the 2023 championship with four victories.
Starkey will serve as Mayer’s principal sponsor for the majority of the 2027 campaign, reinforcing the team’s backing as it looks to capitalize on Mayer’s recent successes.
When the 2027 season opens, Mayer plans to leverage his experience at Daytona and the full support of JRM to compete for a new series of triumphs.
