Seagate introduces new external FireCuda gaming SSDs & Co.

Since Sony has allowed data on the PS4 to be outsourced to external storage, Seagate sees this as an opportunity to open up a new market that is specifically aimed at gamers.

Although external HDDs and SSDs are not entirely new and can only be tinkered yourself, the new FireCuda Gaming series and BarraCuda Fast SSD series from Seagate should meet all requirements and with little effort. More than ever, the focus is on speed and storage capacity.

The new FireCuda Gaming NVMe SSD, which is equipped with a storage capacity of 500GB to 2TB, was therefore presented at CES. There is also the option of an entire gaming dock that holds 4TB. These allow a transfer speed of two gigabytes per second, which enables extremely fast loading and outsourcing of the data.

Since these are gamer SSDs, the optical factor also plays a major role this year. In addition to the simple housing, the most striking thing here is an LED bar, which can even be adapted to your own wishes. Otherwise, the SSDs are connected directly via USB and also supplied with power.

The new FireCuda Gaming SSDs are available from EUR 229, while the BarraCuda Fast SSD series will be available from EUR 99. An overview of gaming SSDs that are already available can be found at Amazon.de, among others
