Sebastien Ogier confirmed that he will skip the 2027 World Rally Championship opener in Monte Carlo, marking the first absence since 2011.
The nine‑time champion celebrated a record 214 WRC starts at the Sardinia finale, but said he “doesn’t yet have a plan” for the upcoming season.
Season Outlook
Ogier cited family commitments for his Monte Carlo absence and added that he is still considering taking a break to reassess his calendar.
He has already reduced his WRC commitments in recent years, running six rallies in 2022 before splitting the season with the World Endurance Championship.
Recent Drive History
In 2023 he expanded to a partial WRC programme and returned to full participation in 2025, finishing fourth after completing 11 of 14 events and securing his ninth title.
The 2026 season matched his start count, with two wins and a fourth‑place championship finish.
Manufacturer Position
Toyota Gazoo Racing has yet to release its driver lineup for 2027, leaving the field open to speculation.
Ogier remains an influential figure, yet his future involvement remains uncertain, indicating a shift toward selective participation rather than full‑time competition.
