Kasey Kahne is set to rejoin full‑time NASCAR competition with Spire Motorsports in the 2027 Truck Series, piloting the No. 77 Chevrolet Silverado‑based entry.
Spire’s Bold Move
Spire’s owner Jeff Dickerson emphasized the historic partnership, noting how the seasoned driver’s competitive spirit aligns with the team’s championship ambitions.
“Having him in one of our trucks competing for a championship means a lot,” Dickerson stated, underscoring Spire’s confidence in Kahne’s enduring skill.
A Winning Record Across the Board
With a decorated résumé that includes 18 Cup series victories in 529 starts and eight Nationwide wins over 216 outings, Kahne’s résumé extends across all top NASCAR tiers.
His Truck Series history is even more striking: six starts, five victories, and a winning average of 1.2, with his sole loss yielding a runner‑up finish.
Despite the limited appearances since 2015, the driver’s experience has remained sharp, as evidenced by 31 career national‑series triumphs and three Coca‑Cola 600 wins.
Last Cup Success at Indianapolis
Kahne earned his final Cup win at the Brickyard 400 in Indianapolis, a milestone that marked the end of his streak of full‑time Cup racing—a streak that halted in 2018 due to chronic dehydration problems exacerbated by long endurance laps.
He has since pivoted to dirt racing, competing in both World of Outlaws and high‑limit sprint car events, while still holding a one‑off Nationwide start at Rockingham, where he qualified fourth and finished within the top fifteen.
Returning to the Truck Series
When the Spire opportunity arose, Kahne admitted initial skepticism, but the chance to resume pavement racing with a top‑tier crew proved enticing.
“The thought of a return to pavement racing and involvement in something that I was a part of for so long was exciting,” Kahne said, thanking Spire for a chance to compete at a level where he firmly believes victory is attainable.
Looking Ahead
With the 2027 schedule set, the combination of Kahne’s track record, Spire’s resources, and the shorter race format of the Truck Series could set the stage for a fiercely contested title run.
