Toprak Razgatlioglu’s right shoulder was dislocated during the final practice at Mandalika, forcing a scheduled MRI the following Monday.
Crash at Mandalika Claims Rider’s Shoulder
While riding a Yamaha in Saturday’s final practice, Razgatlioglu was thrown from the machine by a severe impact on the asphalt, dislocating his right shoulder and leaving the Bosnian‑born rider in immediate pain.
Comeback to Qualifying and Sprint
Despite the injury, he returned to the track, speeding 19th in qualifying and matching the same spot in the sprint race. The rider later explained that he had managed to nudge the bone back into place before the sessions began.
Pain Intensifies in the Grand Prix
During the main race, the shoulder’s instability worsened after just eight laps. Razgatlioglu confronted the crew with the dilemma of continuing or withdrawing, choosing to race but admitting later that “the shoulder…not the bike” was his chief barrier.
Decision to Stay and the Burden of Pain
He urged his team to let him finish, stating, “If I feel really bad, I just go back to the box; it’s easy.” Yet he found that power over the brake faded, especially in corners 7‑8 and 13‑14, leading to a gradual loss of performance.
Imminent MRI and Speculation on Surgery
On Monday, Razgatlioglu will travel home to Turkey, where specialists will perform a full scan of his shoulder. He hopes that the rest will suffice, but early indications suggest the possibility of surgical intervention if the MRI confirms structural damage.
