Andrea Stella, McLaren’s team principal, lifted Lando Norris after the Singapore Sprint collision that saw Oscar Piastri retire and Norris slide to eighth.
Sprint clash triggers caution
During the sprint, the Britons fought for the fourth place, with Norris forcing a near‑miss at Turn 5. The clash disabled Piastri and left Norris out of the points.
Neither driver faced stewards’ action, as the governing body deemed both parties responsible for the contact.
Sunday redemption and cooperative attack
On the race day, Norris recovered to fourth and then orchestrated a late‑race manoeuvre that helped Piastri secure fifth by overcutting Lewis Hamilton.
The duo’s on‑track harmony, though brief, smoothed the social friction that had stirred after the Sunday morning lunge.
Stella demands consistent teamwork
Stella praised Norris for adopting a team‑centric mindset during the weekend, saying it matched the expectations of McLaren’s 1,000‑strong crew.
He added, “We need to embed the team’s interests above individual goals,” urging further constructive dialogue ahead of a tight constructors battle with Red Bull.
