Assassin’s Creed Destiny Leaks: Cancelled Ancient China Game Revealed

Assassin

Assassin’s Creed Destiny, a cancelled title that promised a sweeping adventure across Qin Dynasty China, recently surfaced in prototype footage and screenshots.

Development and Prototype Reveal

The game was produced by a Tencent‑owned branch working with Ubisoft, with footage sourced from a February 2025 prototype. It depicts a female assassin infiltrating a military palace and pursuing a mysterious artifact.

Developers indicated the setting as 206 BCE, during China’s Qin Dynasty, and highlighted combat systems that blend traditional stealth takedowns with parkour and the iconic Leap of Faith.

Gameplay Design and Visual Motifs

Field footage shows an umbrella‑style weapon that spins to disorient enemies, linked to the game’s ability icons inspired by ink‑brush artwork. HUD elements incorporate Yin‑Yang symbols, reinforcing the Chinese aesthetic.

The leaks also contain a boss encounter featuring Xiang Yu, the historical warlord, hinting at a campaign that would have included larger mythic figures.

Cancellation and Structural Shifts

The project was shelved following a restructuring of TiMi, the Tencent division that oversaw the effort. Analysts suggest the move aligns with Tencent’s broader pivot towards domestic casual experiences rather than Western partnerships.

While the exact reasoning remains unconfirmed, no evidence points to other causes beyond organizational change.

Ubisoft’s Current Slate

Assassin’s Creed Jade continues development as a mobile spin‑off. Separately, Ubisoft is reportedly working on Assassin’s Creed Hexe, a title expected to depart from the established RPG formula.

Sources note a late 2027 release window for Hexe, maintaining Ubisoft’s focus on diversified platform offerings.
