With a small shock message yesterday, CD Projekt announced the further postponement of ‘Cyberpunk 2077’, which will only be released in September. This also delays the publication of the multiplayer part.
In any case, it was planned that this would only be published later, but due to the new schedule and the new initial publication of Cyberpunk 2077, multiplayer will no longer be expected in 2021.
At least that was what Michal Nowakowski, Senior Vice President for Business Development at CD Projekt Red, said in a conference call with the investors.
"Given the planned release of Cyberpunk 2077 in September and some things we expect after that date, we believe that 2021 is unlikely to be a release for Cyberpunk multiplayer," said Nowakowski.
2022 will appear quite late, which makes a next-gen release of Cyberpunk 2077 more and more likely. After all, the new consoles are already in their second year, while industry experts also believe that the transition will be much faster this time.
In this respect, you lose the user base of the current generation just as quickly and many will then prefer to play Cyberpunk 2077 on the PS5 and Xbox Series X, as well as the multiplayer.
Cyberpunk 2077 will initially be released on September 17, 2020.
