The renewed postponement of ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ on Thursday should have clearly disappointed many fans. At CD Projekt, however, they are confident that they will really meet the September deadline.
During the current CD Projekt conference call, Senior Vice President for Business Development, Michal Nowakowski, and CD Projekt Red CFO Piotr Nielubowicz said that a further postponement was unlikely, given that we now know exactly what aspects of the game still need to be addressed and how much time these need.
Also, the release is not necessarily dependent on what other games appear in the same period or whether the PS5 & Co. could have a negative impact, since you have a lot of confidence in Cyberpunk 2077.
“There is always something going on, regardless of the season. The gaming industry is not an industry where you can say that a certain month is safer for some reason. In this regard, we see September as no more threatening than April or June, ”said Nielubowicz.
"We believe that our game – a large single-player role-playing game with a great story – will find its place on the market regardless of the date or platform," added Nowakowski.
In this context, it was also emphasized again that Cyberpunk 2077 was designed for the current generation and that there are no concrete plans for a PS5 release etc., even if one can imagine it. Everything is now focused on September, there is nothing more to say.
