A few days ago there were reports that Ubisoft was redesigning its internal structures to ensure that their games became more unique again. Obviously, a project fell victim to this relatively quickly, which is said to have almost been completed.
The aim of the restructuring is that the editorial teams that make important design decisions for a game are given more responsibility and that this is not decided solely on the higher floors by only 1 or 2 people. As a result, the last Ubisoft games were all quite similar and could be exchanged anywhere within the franchises. In the future, you want each brand to have its own identity and be able to stand on its own.
In the course of this restructuring, a project at Ubisoft Montreal was apparently discontinued, the development of which is almost complete. This has apparently been classified as not unique enough to be published. Which game that was supposed to be is not mentioned. It is also unclear whether Ubisoft will officially comment on these measures.
Former creative director back at Ubisoft
Among the new vice presidents of the editorial teams, who will each be responsible for a particular brand, is the former creative director, Maxime Beland, who switched to Epic Games for several months to work on Fortnite. In the past, Beland was involved in games such as Splinter Cell, Far Cry and Rainbow Six.
It is not known which franchise he will run at Ubisoft.
