Tetsuya Nomura reflects on Kingdom Hearts 3: characters, plots and more

The title director takes stock of this third numbered installment of the saga on the occasion of the launch of Re Mind, the expected DLC.

A year later of its original launch, Kingdom Hearts 3 receives this January 23 on PS4 the expected DLC Re Mind, where the Square Enix team has written a story that delves into the final stretch of the adventure to respond to many of Unfinished issues. Its director, Tetsuya Nomura, has chatted with PlayStation to take stock of this moment.

According to the creative Japanese, there are still significant details in the plot of Kingdom Hearts 3 that fans have not yet noticed; especially in the identity of some characters, although it discards entering details. “If I said something like‘ the true identity of this or that one ’, for example, it would ruin the surprise for the people who will come later. So I can't say anything specific, but sometimes I do see interpretations that make me think that they might be going around things too much, ”he assumes, perhaps because of the excessive complexity with which the Kingdom Hearts plot is contemplated by the community.

Re Mind arrives on PlayStation 4 this January 23 (February 25 on Xbox One), an event that arouses interest in Nomura to see what crazy performances appear in the minds of players when they complete it. “I am always amazed by the interpretations of KH fans, and I am eager to see how they analyze things this time,” he adds.

There are many plots already resolved in Kingdom Hearts after the conclusion of the third numbered episode. For Nomura, Xigbar is the most important "because we have spent a lot of time to take it where it is." With regard to the design of the characters, very changed compared to previous installments to take advantage of current technologies, the satisfaction lasts little in the head of the creative, constantly thinking about how he could design the protagonists on upcoming occasions: “I was satisfied with each one of them, once the drawing was finished, but after a while, I always end up thinking about what I would like to do differently next time. ”

Finally, he comments that Master Xehanort's Keyblade is his favorite, a comment that serves as a collation to comment on the recent announcement that has taken place by Square Enix this same day: Kingdom Hearts Project Xehanort. The game will be mobile this spring, but the name of the game is not decided yet, but will be decided by the community.
