Kojima Productions talks about his new projects after Death Stranding

The study does not announce anything concrete, but it does point to various possibilities inside and outside the video game industry.

The visible heads of Kojima Productions have speculated on the projects that are about to arrive in an interview granted to Famitsu (via Dualshockers), which in its February issue includes 30 pages starring Hideo Kojima himself and Yoji Shinkawa, responsible for the artistic section of the games. After the release of Death Stranding, its most recent title, creatives have shared their vision and have dropped possible future projects, which are not tied exclusively to the video game industry.

In fact, they both agree that they would like to work together in a manga. According to Shinkawa, he likes to touch things directly, so an analog project like this attracts him. Of course, he has joked about his difficulties with reading, since he has certain vision problems.

Smaller games without giving up big projects

Although Kojima reveals that they are planning a great video game, they are also involved in planning smaller projects, such as episodic or digital titles. He still does not know if he will be able to carry them out, but his intention is to launch these more modest video games while designing his most budget-oriented work.

Death Stranding is a title that does have weapons, but in this devastated United States there is no room for fuses. Thus, Hideo Kojima is seduced by the idea of designing a product that has to do with these robots. The two comment that maybe it could be an anime, which although it would take a lot of work, is easier to make than a video game.

It is not the first time that Kojima Productions points to the possibility of film work. The Japanese director has reinforced that idea again and said he would love to execute it with Shinkawa's designs. For the creative Japanese, movies and videogames are going to merge inexorably, because the generation of screenwriters who are now 40 years old grew up with the way to tell the story of video games.

Death Stranding is available on PS4 since last November. The PC version, edited by 505 Games, will go on sale in early summer 2020, although there is currently no more specific date.
