Id Software sees logical a future version of DOOM Eternal for PS5 and Xbox Series X

Hugo Martin, creative director of the game, believes that it makes sense to think about an eventual adaptation of the game to the next generation of consoles.

DOOM Eternal is only a couple of months away from being a reality in stores. March has been the month chosen to demonstrate that id Software is still in a state of grace after a DOOM (2016) that revitalized not only its own saga but gender; and PS4 and Xbox One will be the consoles initially chosen to see their performance. Thinking about PS5 and Xbox Series X has ceased to be a taboo subject for them.

As stated by the title director, Marty Stratton, for the Metro medium, it is “logical” that, once the new Sony and Microsoft consoles are launched to the market at Christmas of 2020, a possible improved version is proposed to take everything the possible match of this new hardware, which will undoubtedly be more capable than the current one; closer to a high-end computer.

March 20 in stores for PS4, Xbox One and PC

"We have not talked about it yet, but one of the most exciting things is that we are at the end of the cycle of a generation of consoles, where our team knows the current technology very, very well," he says. To that he adds: "So this has allowed us to take this hardware to the maximum," he adds.

But what then? “We haven't announced anything, but it's very interesting. They are doing amazing things with that hardware, so I think it is logical that we are heading towards it ”, when asked about the next consoles. "Honestly, we would try to be one of the best games on those platforms too," although, we insist, they have nothing to announce at this time.

One of the promises of the study is that the campaign mode of the game will last more than twenty hours, which would be more than double that of DOOM 2016.

DOOM Eternal will launch in physical and digital format on March 20 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Soon it will also on Nintendo Switch.

From FreeGameTips we have already been able to play the final version of the game for a few hours. We tell you all about the title here.
