PS5: Patent describes new Invite system in the background

Playfront

Sony will apparently revise the invitation feature on the PS5 or PS4, as a recent patent shows. To do this, the corresponding game is already started in the background so that it can possibly end its current session.

At the moment it is the case that you can invite any player, they have to end their current game and then enter the new game. If the current patent is used, invitations can be accepted in the future and initially run in the background.

The patent states:

“Systems and methods for establishing a multiplayer game session are provided. A method may include selecting at least one invited computing device from a plurality of invited computing devices to participate in the multiplayer gaming session and one game from a list of games for the multiplayer gaming session. The method may include transmitting an invitation to participate in the multiplayer game session to the at least one invited participant's computer device and causing the at least one invited participant's computer device to run the game in a background process with one or more foregrounds on the invited participant Launch applications. ”

If you suspect a little further here, the PS5 will be able to run several applications simultaneously, i.e. several games. There have also been reports that this may be possible.

As is so often the case with patents, none of this is official or confirmed, which is why you have to wait for more information from Sony.
