Dragon Ball Z Kakarot is but the first of a list of manga and anime-based video games that will see the light this year. We review them.
A really exciting year 2020 is coming for fans of manga and anime that has started in the best possible way. Dragon Ball Z Kakarot has been a dream come true for the millions of fans around the world of Goku and company, an open-world RPG that recreates some of the most emblematic moments and battles of the series, and that to top it off, has It turned out to be a remarkable title. But far from it will be the only one, since over the next 12 months we will see various virtual adaptations of some of the most popular Japanese series of the moment … and also of the past. These are the most interesting:
Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions
Although it is not the most prolific anime in the world of video games, it is one of the best titles that has left us, although the last date of 2017, Captain Tsubasa: Dream Team, a mobile gatcha. However, Rise of New Champions represents the return of a great game of the popular soccer players who delighted young people in the early and mid-90s, having been announced this week. This is an accessible football arcade, as we are used to with this license, which will have several game modes and, surprisingly, will have online multiplayer, as its director has assured. It does not have a specific date, it is specified that it will be released on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC, and yesterday we published our first impressions after having tried it for a few hours.
One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows
One that will debut this year on consoles and PCs in Saitama, with a fighting and action game between teams of three characters developed by Spike Chunsoft, with a very broad curriculum of very Japanese-style video games and that are also working on Pokémon: Mysterious World Team Rescue DX for Nintendo Switch. As we know, its protagonist is characterized by being invincible and capable of defeating even the most powerful rival with a single punch, and hence his mechanic Hero Arrival, which means that, in case of choosing Saitama for our team, he will have to join the fight late. Of course, if the other team includes a Saitama, it can be defeated, but instead of disappearing, we will see it apart doing anything else. A peculiar title that will arrive this February, specifically on the 28th, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
My Hero: One’s Justice 2
My Hero Academia is another of the anime that in recent times has left us a good handful of games, from My Hero Academia: Battle for All, for 3DS, to the first installment of the saga that concerns us, through even games of letters. This sequel continues argumentatively where My Hero: One's Justice left it, settling in the fourth season of the series, with which it is more advisable to play that one, but in the rest of the sections they promise to incorporate multiple novelties, such as attacks in Plus Ultra, in which our two companions will be present in combat for a special attack with maximum damage. Another of these novelties is the Mission Mode, in which to form our own Office of Heroes, improving our characters with experience points obtained in the different missions, as well as recruiting new fighters, even villains. My Hero: One’s Justice 2 will arrive on March 13 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
Fairy Tail
As in any good fairy tale, Fairy Tail will not miss magicians, dragons and multiple enemies that will populate one of the most ambitious games on the list, since it is neither more nor less than an ARPG in the open world by Gust Studios, with extensive experience in the Atelier saga. This is one of the anime that also premieres in large-scale video games with the help of Hiro Mashima, creator of the manga and project supervisor, who makes sure that the game is as faithful as possible to its creation, and that It already has a paper age of more than a decade. The base will be the Guild, located in the city of Magnolia, which will not lack the commission table where we can accept missions as we move forward in history, in which we can control, as promised, ten characters among those who are Confirmed Wendy Marvell, Lucy Heartfilia, Natsu Dragneel, Gray Fullbuster and Erza Scarlet. It will also be available in March, on the 19th, on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4
The games starring Luffy and company are counted by tens, having debuted in the year 2000 with a game for no less than WonderSwan, Bandai's portable console that was not very successful. Developed by Koei Tecmo, the Japanese studio will return with what they do best, which is nothing but the typical musou of this subsaga of One Piece, with about 40 playable characters such as, in addition to Luffy, Roronoa, Nami, Usopp or Tony Tony Chopper Fans of the saga will appreciate mainly two novelties: on the one hand Destructive Action, when some elements of the environment are destroyed, and Air Warrior Action, when we perfectly combine ground and air attacks to carry out devastating combos. One more that will arrive in March, on the 27th, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC, and will do so even with a collector's edition.
Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 – Road to Boruto
On April 24, the most complete version of this fighting game appeared on Nintendo Switch two years ago on PS4, Xbox One and PC. We talk about what will be the most complete version of this fourth installment, since to the base game and its expansion Road to Boruto we must add unpublished content on the other platforms, namely: two new characters, Kinshiki and Momoshiki Otsutsuki, and 11 New outfits for the characters already present. Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris
Sword Art Online is another license that has given its fans a lot of joy, both in quantity and quality, with games hanging around the notable ones in Metacritic. In May this new installment will arrive based on the Alicization arc, in a new ARPG that will put us in the shoes of Kirito, who will visit the Underworld where he will meet with artificial intelligences with his own consciousness. The game is developed by Aquria, more than used to working with Sword Art Online. May 22 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
