Although the simulation 'Plague Inc: Evolved' has been available on PS4 for a good four years and even longer on the PC, the corona virus currently rampant in China triggers a new run on the game.

Plague Inc: Evolved deals with a fictional scenario. A pathogen has just infected "patient zero". Now you have to bring about the end of humanity by developing a deadly global epidemic while surviving everything that humanity throws at you to defend yourself.

Due to the current and dramatic events in China, interest in Plague Inc: Evolved is currently so high that the developer's homepage was temporarily overloaded and a new player record was set on Steam. It should look similar on PS4 & Co.

Developer Plague Inc. still warns that the game was developed with real data and scientific background, but is still only a game that certainly cannot predict the current outbreak in China and its possible course.

A statement states:

“The outbreak of the corona virus in China is extremely worrying and we have received many questions from players and the media.

Plague Inc. has been inactive for eight years and player numbers increase with every disease outbreak as people want to find out more about disease spread and understand the complexity of virus outbreaks.

We designed the game to be realistic and informative, without sensitizing to serious real-world problems. This has been recognized by the CDC and other leading medical organizations around the world.

However, please remember that Plague Inc. is a game, not a scientific model, and that the current outbreak of the coronavirus is a very real situation that affects a large number of people. We would always recommend that players get their information directly from local and global health authorities. ”

Plague Inc: Evolved is currently played by over 100 million players on all platforms.
