Torchlight Frontiers becomes Torchlight 3 and leaves the F2P behind

Echtra Games and Perfect World Entertainment announce both the name change and business model of their new action RPG for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Torchlight Frontiers, which should have been the new installment of the Torchlight saga in free to play format, finally changes both name and business model. This has been announced by both Echtra Games and Perfect World Entertainment, confirming Torchlight III as a new delivery at full price, thus eliminating any glimpse of F2P from the original project and announcing a PC launch window through Steam, scheduled for this summer.

Back to the classic formula

And it is that the goal of those responsible has been none other than to remain faithful to the original concept of the saga, thus discarding the original plans as an F2P video game and returning to the traditional business model for which it will be the third part of it. Thus, the game will have a full price on Steam at the time of its arrival in the market in just a few months, leaving the launch on consoles (PS4 and Xbox One) for later.

But there is much more; Frontiers bet on dynamically generated worlds to share among players. Now all this has been ruled out, offering traditional closed worlds in the purest style of the previous installments of the saga. Thus, the exploration of dungeons, classes with several pets (some of them totally unpublished), the construction of fortresses, equipment collection, weapons and relics of power, progress and personalization of heroes and much more.

All accessible from January 29 through a closed alpha in which fans of the saga that are made with an invitation can start testing the news of this unexpected Torchlight III. And taking advantage of the announcement, those responsible have shared a new trailer and the first screenshots.
