Star Wars Battlefront 2 delays its new update due to a "critical error"

The patch was scheduled for January 30, but will be delayed until next week in order to narrow down the ruling.

The new update of Star Wars Battlefront 2 will not hang on January 30. This has been confirmed by DICE and Electronic Arts through a statement published by a CM of the company in the forums of the video game. In the message, the team acknowledges that they have found a "critical error" in the patch that was about to come to light. However, the delay will not be long, as the developers have set a new date for the week of February 3-9.

"I just want to release a quick note about the update that was scheduled for January 30," the message begins. "During our testing phase we found a critical error, which means we will have to delay the patch until the beginning of next week." As he explains, they already have a new build, which has normally started its way towards the usual checks carried out during the process of launching an update. "Things look good," he concludes.

A curious user asked Ben Walke, of the development team, what this important mistake was. The creative has responded as follows: “In some circumstances (not 100% of the time), the player cannot damage the enemy when I play in Capital Supremacy. If this had reached the final game it would have been … unpleasant. ”

The title goes on

Star Wars Battlefront 2 did not have it easy in its first months in the market. EA DICE's game was stuck in the whirlwind by the controversy of loot boxes, something that caused Electronic Arts itself to rethink its business model in all its products. However, the company has supported the video game throughout these years and has designed a long-term strategy in which new content has been added month by month. Thus, at the end of last year the Celebration Edition was commercialized, with all the paid content released until that moment.

The premiere of the latest film in the saga, Star Wars IX: The Rise of Skywalker, opened the door for characters and film content to be incorporated. Among the protagonists who debuted were two very particular androids, BB-8 and BB-9E, each with three active and passive skills (they are part of the update). In that year of release, Electronic Arts also had another open front: launch a new videogame in the saga.

Jedi Star Wars: Fallen Order, developed by Respawn Entertainment, neglects the multiplayer component to offer a story-centric experience. The title, a third-person action game, tells the story of Cal Kestis, an ancient Jedi who hides to avoid the purge of the Galactic Empire. However, it will come out of the shadows and the lightsaber will wield a mission of critical importance: restoring the Jedi Order.
