Google Stadia responds to complaints about the lack of game ads

The technology giant announced that 120 new video games would be added throughout this year 2020.

The launch of Google Stadia occurred at the end of last year, although only for those who acquired the respective founders packs. Since then, some players have raised their voice, annoying because according to their criteria, the company has failed to refresh the catalog with the necessary speed. In fact, there is a thread on Reddit that has been one of the main focuses of the complaints, since the person who initiated it has counted the days in which there has not been a single new video game. Now, the technology company has stepped up and answered the players.

In a statement sent to GamesIndustry.biz, a company representative said they are aware that users want to hear news about the upcoming titles that will arrive on the platform. "We understand their desire to hear more specific things about games," he admits. "After all, this is what it's about: games." However, "not all" titles that are announced will do so through the Stadia team. "We offer publishers the possibility of making the announcement about their IP / games", as well as choosing "the platforms on which they will go out", just as they do with "the exclusive content that is marketed in Stadia".

According to the company, there are many reasons that lead to game announcements being made at a given time, since “planned promotions or events”, the state of development or “the proximity of a first playable demo” enter the equation. , not to mention the obligations imposed by the shareholders. "We are excited to share more about the exclusive games that will come out in Stadia soon," he concludes.

February free games

Google's streaming service has opted for a subscription business model, which, however, does not guarantee access to all video games available in the catalog as in the case of Xbox Games Pass. Instead, users can access the service, buy the titles as in any virtual store and enjoy the ecosystem offered by Stadia. At the same time, Stadia Pro subscribers can play some free video games, which are added to the catalog monthly, similar to the Free Games with Gold or the free PlayStation Plus titles.

The month of February will hold two free titles already announced. On the one hand, Metro Exodus, the most recent work set in the world of novels created by Dmitry Glukhovsky, which will premiere its final expansion that same month. In this story, some survivors decide to leave the tunnels and explore the world, hoping that there are still places without consuming. On the other hand, the latest production of the Spanish studio Tequilla Works will be the other free title. Gylt is a fantasy adventure starring a girl who must face her fears.
