The production of Obsidian Entertainment will visit the hybrid of Kyoto with a version adapted by Virtuos.

Nintendo Switch will not run out of its ration of The Outer Worlds, the role title developed by Obsidian Entertainment, a studio that now belongs to Xbox Game Studios. They already warned him: he would be ready before April 2020, but a more specific date had not yet been set. However, Private Division, the publisher of this RPG, has confirmed that it will hit stores next March 6.

Although it will be available on the Nintendo eShop at a price of 59.99 euros, it will also be sold in physical version. Of course, the company has acknowledged that the boxed edition will not come on card, but instead a code will be provided that must be exchanged to download the product. Something similar to the case of Overwatch, which was published on Nintendo Switch without any physical cartridge.

With regard to adaptation, Obsidian Entertainment did not have them all with it that could be done. The co-director of the video game, Leonard Boyarsky, commented in an interview with US Gamers that Virtous, the port managers, convinced them to push forward with the project. "We weren't sure what could be done," he acknowledges in the interview. "But then they started coming with all those Nintendo Switch games and we thought: 'Wow, it's great.' Shortly after, they were shown a prototype and gave the green light to realize the conversion.

More content on the way

The Outer Worlds is the latest cross-platform title of the study, since as mentioned, the company was acquired by Microsoft. However, this production was financed by Private Division, so that the plans remained unchanged. Even so, it is part of the Xbox Game Pass catalog from the same day of launch.

The game, which can now be played on Xbox One, PS4 and PC, will soon be expanded with new expansions. There is no detail about the plot lines that will expand throughout 2020, so we will have to pay attention to future communications. Obsidian confirmed it during the gala of The Game Awards, where they competed, among other categories, for the highest award. “This trip is not over yet. We are delighted to announce that we will expand the story through downloadable content, ”they said.

The plot of the game takes us to space, with a main character who has spent decades in the process of cryogenization. Forgotten by the world and condemned to a premature death, the young man is saved when a recognized terrorist wakes him up. Since then, he must travel to distant planets, many of them controlled by evil companies, which squeeze the citizens to suffocate them and dehumanize them completely.
