EA, surprised with the sales of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order; expect 10 million

The game has comfortably exceeded the company's forecasts, so the title has to be around 8 million copies distributed.

Jedi Star Wars: Fallen Order has fulfilled the commercial expectations initially deposited by Electronic Arts. The title of Respawn Entertainment, a great commitment by the North American publisher for last November, had two precedents surrounded by controversy, which raised doubts about the eventual performance of the game in the market. Things are going so well that they expect to sell 10 million units before April 2020.

The initial plan for May 2019 was to dispatch between 6 and 8 million units by the end of this fiscal year this March 31 (Q4 / FY2019); a goal ratified last October, when everything was ready for the launch of the Cal Kestis adventure on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

What awaits us with Star Wars within Electronic Arts

The future of Star Wars intellectual property within EA has two possible fronts; One of them almost discarded. On the one hand, EA DICE, authors of the Battlefront series, reflected on an eventual third installment of the saga recognizing that "it is not the time" because "there is no longer so much hunger for the sequels." They will continue to support Star Wars Battlefront 2.

If you look at Respawn Entertainment, which signs the title today, the course is radically opposite: this sequel would already be underway, according to sources close to Kotaku still unconfirmed. What is confirmed is that Respawn is interested in a sequel. They said it themselves in November, a few days after Jedi Fallen Order went on sale.

Charlie Houser, product manager at Respawn, said: “We had a pleasant surprise with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. For the new team that has joined Respawn, it has been a great learning that we get along. ” To that he added: "We would love to continue making amazing experiences and stories, and continue telling those stories in Star Wars."

As we have in our Reviews of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, we rate the title as one of the best games based on this universe in recent years. It is already available on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
