Alex Marquez has announced that he will not compete in the Czech Grand Prix, opting to focus on his recovery after a crash at Barcelona.
Qualifying and Withdrawal
The Spanish rider, who represents Gresini Ducati, qualified 14th in Brno—a position below his typical form but understandable given his recent injury. Despite the decent pace, Marquez decided not to take the risks of the race. A team statement confirmed that “after consulting with the team and medical staff, he has chosen to withdraw from the rest of the Czech GP to continue his recovery in the best possible way.”
Marquez had previously stated he would treat the weekend on a “practice‑by‑practice” basis, but the decision to stand down gives him extra time before the Assen round. He will still need medical clearance before racing again.
Grid Penalties for Other Competitors
Pramac Yamaha rider Toprak Razgatlioglu received a three‑place penalty for riding slowly on the racing line in Q1, impeding Tech3 KTM’s Enea Bastianini. The Turkish rider will therefore drop one place from a second‑to‑last qualification, allowing Cal Crutchlow to move ahead on the final bracket.
