Season 4 will incorporate a new sniper rifle, called Sentinel. Respawn Entertainment shares the first details.
The fourth season of Apex Legends will begin on February 4. After all these months enjoying away from the Canyon of the Kings, the company will return us to the place where it all began. That long-awaited return will be accompanied by a multitude of novelties, such as the inclusion of a new sniper rifle.
During the broadcast to reveal Assimilation, Respawn shared new details about Sentinel, the new addition to the armament. Unlike the L-Star and the Cargo Rifle, its arrival marks the first performance that will differ with what was seen in Titanfall, so it is an unknown how it unfolds on the battlefield. “It feels very powerful, it has a pretty“ cool ”animation in which you have to pull back the bolt to load the next bullet. It's a bit different from the rest of sniper rifles because it has a mechanic in which you can ‘load’ the shot, ”explains Apex Legends design director Jason McCord.
Including this type of secondary shot suggests that we could face a long-distance version of the Triple-Take and Peacekeeper with a choke. In Jason's words, this action will bring versatility about what you want to do before each shot. "I don't want to go into detail right now, but it will give you more decision power … Do you really want to use the most powerful shot you can take at that particular moment?"
The team acknowledges that it has greatly enjoyed using it in internal tests. "It has that turn when shooting almost having another cadence," they conclude. In any case, we will have to wait until the launch of the season that, as we said, is scheduled for February 4 on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Next to the weapon, a new legend will be added to the squad.
