Respawn Enteraiment and Electronic Arts explain all the details about the tournament, which will begin in January.
The battle royale of Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment will have official competition. Through a press release, Apex Legends Global Series has been announced, a new esports modality that will lead to online tournaments and live events. The purpose is that the best PC video game players can compete and win more than 2 million and a half euros in prizes. The first competition will take place on January 25, 2020; Registration will open that same month.
As explained by the company, the Apex Legends Global Series will start with 12 live global events, which will be coordinated by EA and Respawn and produced by two of the most experienced electronic sports tournament organizers, PGI and GLL. "The heart of Apex Legends is in the competition," says Vince Zampella, head of Respawn Entertainment. “We hope that esports will acquire a great role in the future of Apex Legends. It all starts here, with the Apex Legends Global Series. We are looking forward to knowing who will become the true Legend of the arena among all our millions of players, ”he concludes.

60 players from different countries
Electronic Arts has stressed that the competition has been conceived as “an open ecosystem”, which will take into account the inclusion of players. In total, players from 60 different countries may participate, "as long as they are of legal age", comply with the "PC requirements" of the video game, etc. According to the press release, the first step will be an online tournament with which players “can advance positions until they reach the regional Challenger Events and then the global Premier Events”
They also announce that they can earn points for the activity some online events and others live, "while those who stand out especially in the competition will be invited to the four Apex Legends Global Series Main, the four tournaments with the highest competitive level" .
During the Main Events, 100 teams composed of 3 players will fight for victory. Although the fourth of these Main Events will host the grand finale, they will all work in a similar way. They will be carried out in the Match Point mode of Apex Legends. So, they will have to reach a threshold of points by combining the position in the team's ranking and their number of eliminations, a feature exclusively present in this battle royale.
Apex Legends is available on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
