Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: both protagonists will be canon, male and female

The next Ubisoft video game will allow you to choose the main character of both sexes as part of its customization. They clarify its importance.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will allow you to choose a male and female protagonist character, as confirmed by Ubisoft shortly after announcing the ambitious new episode of the saga based on Viking times and Norse mythology. Now we know that, despite the great prominence that has been given to the male figure of the main character, both sexes will be canon.

The doubt came precisely because of the decision made with the last main release of the series, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey (2018), where Kassandra was the true canonical protagonist of the expanded universe (comics, novels…) and not Alexios, the male counterpart.

It has been Darby McDebitt, narrative director of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, who has been in charge of clarifying this issue in which he aims to be one of the greatest action RPGs in recent years: “both options are canon, but I will not gut how We have managed it until you play the title ”, begins on the social network Twitter a user who asked precisely about the sex of the truly“ real ”protagonist. It will be both.

What is not clear is the second part of his argument, the methodology chosen so that both the male and female characters are canon. There is something we do know, and that is that this time sex will be one more element within the range of character customization options when we start the adventure, as we already told you in this article with everything we know about Assassin's Creed Valhalla. For example, we can change the hair style, tattoos, war paint and equipment.

Another confirmed aspect is that romances between characters of the same sex will be allowed, as in Assassin's Creed Odyssey, where it was possible to choose a heterosexual, homosexual or asexual protagonist. The actors who will be in charge of interpreting the two versions of Eivor (name of the protagonist) have already been revealed. The men's edition will be performed by Danish Magnus Bruun, recently seen as Cnut in Netflix's The Last Kingdom. For the female version, another Danish actress, Cecilie Stenspil, known as Badehotellet, has been chosen.

In the development of the game a total of fifteen studies are involved; one of them, Ubisoft Barcelona, although the direction is assumed by Ubisoft Montreal. Assassin's Creed Valhalla will launch in physical and digital form on PS5, Xbox Series X, PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia later this year.
